Casa Na Ilha is an artist in residence program initiative born from the idea to create a space where creativity and exploration is encouraged, focusing in the construction of the creative process, development and curatorial process of artistic and environmental engaged projects in one place away from the city and distractions of daily routine.
Our main art residence home and multidisciplinary program is located in Ilhabela Island, emplaced in the special and unique Mata Atlantica (Atlantic forest) ecosystem, off the coast of São Paulo, Brazil. Here, at our main space, we run each month the multidisciplinary artist in residence program as well as the writing and workshop sessions. Since we opened our doors in 2017, we have hosted over 300 international artists that have expanded their practice, deep dive in their creative processes, work on new ideas as well as conducted field research and ecologically engaged projects away from daily distractions, engaging between them and the local community and culture.
While our physical heart and ongoing sessions remain firmly rooted in Ilhabela, Casa Na Ilha has expanded its vision to develop new itinerant, nomadic immersion programs. This expansion allows us to branch out from our main island base and venture into other fragile habitats across South America. Embracing the spirit of a nomadic platform, we invite creators to step into different ecosystems, cultures, and landscapes to observe, decenter the gaze, and dive into deep introspection in the Amazon Rainforest as well as in Patagonia Argentina.
By maintaining our steady center in Ilhabela while opening these new doors across the continent, Casa Na Ilha offers creators the rare luxury of absolute peace, time, and geographic exploration. It is an invitation to be both rooted and nomadic—to coexist within different natural habitats and turn deep environmental observation into a vital instrument for artistic transformation.

Special artist in residence program by Lago Moreno, Bariloche, Patagonia Argentina
PATAGONIA ARGENTINA is a special multidisciplinary residency session right by Moreno lake shores, in Bariloche, Argentina, designed for creators seeking to explore, experiment, and deepen their creative processes within the breathtaking Patagonian autumn.
Inspired by practices of deep immersion and connection in ecological paradises, PATAGONIA ARGENTINA invites residents to embrace stillness as a bridge for profound connection: with the identity of this new territory, with the unique rhythm of the creative process, with oneself, and with the community of creators sharing the space. The Patagonian autumn is the threshold of deep listening, observation and expansion. The forest of coihues and lengas changes its skin before our eyes, inviting us to slow down our pace, understand the cycles of our creative process and thinking, and inhabit a new intimacy with both the natural and human environment.
